What is Cohousing?

Andrew & Bev are interested in Compass Commons because they like the idea of raising their two young children in a community where they are surrounded by neighbors, and the concept of ‘we take care of each other’ isn’t just something that people say, but something lived and experienced every day. They love that it offers a richness of living at an affordable investment with access to large shared indoor and outdoor common spaces and are attracted by the idea of sharing knowledge and resources in an environmentally responsible community. They look forward to welcoming like minded parents and families as part of their community.

Wendy is retired from her full time work in the Intensive Care Unit. She currently works part time as a hospice nurse. Pat is retired and volunteers in the community, often speaking at events that promote heart health. With 2 grown kids, they now devote much time and love to their grandchildren, who are already valued members of the Compass Community. Wendy & Pat often host Compass social events at their current home in Surrey but welcome the chance to mingle daily with their Compass neighbours soon!

John is an elementary school teacher and father of three who strongly believes in community. He enjoys life more fully when he works with others in a reasonably sized group. John has been interested in cohousing as a model for living for many years and is excited to be a part of this project and community.

Time passes; family grows and disperses; such is the natural progression of life. Verla seeks a connected group of individuals with whom to forge a neighbourly bond. She enjoys reading, writing, gardening, swimming, and (rarely) solving crosswords. Verla is an avid dragonboater, having been involved in the sport since 2004. A senior and retired teacher, has so much to contribute to a multigenerational community.
